Years before custom email addresses and boutique email service providers bloomed on the web, FanMail by Applied Mail Services was in talk with notable celebrities in the music industry to take their name, and offer it to fans (think... rebecca@korn.com). There was considerable interest in the concept, but no one believed fans would pay for a new email moniker, and they were largely correct. The operation failed due to a lack of ideas around monetization.
